Health Achievement Award

The purpose of the SCWTCA Health Awards Program is to promote the betterment of the breed through health testing. This is a SCWTCA Award recognizing soft coated wheaten terriers who have met one or more of 4 specific levels of health testing requirements and have posted those results into the SCWT Health Database. An Award Certificate will be presented at the SCWTCA Annual Meeting to the submitting Owner/Co-Owner who is also a club member. Thereafter the dog’s registered name in all SCWTCA publications may include the highest Health Award title earned after the dog’s name and any AKC titles.

Qualifications:

To obtain a Health Award of Excellence  to add to the dog’s title at the end of the name, after any other AKC title.  The HAI, II, III, IV is added to the end of the Dog’s Registered name.

This is a SCWTCA Award. The dog’s owner or co-owner must be a SCWTCA member. The title may be added to the end of the dog’s name following any AKC titles. The title may be used in SCWTCA publications.

HA I: PLN Screened  – The dog’s record in the Database includes photo, registered name, call name, birth date, spay or neuter status, and PLN variant gene test results.

HA II: Breeding Stock – Meets SCWTCA Required Health Testing. The dog’s record in the Database includes the elements for HAI plus the OFA Hip certificate, current CAER Eye Clearances* and PLN Variant Gene Test results.

HA III: Breeding Stock – Meets SCWTCA Required and Recommended Health Testing. The dog’s record in the Database includes the elements for HAII plus DM, Microphthalmia, PxD, and at least one AKC registered litter of puppies.

HA IV: Breeding Stock – Meets SCWTCA Required, Recommended and Optional Health Testing. The dog’s record in the Database includes the elements for HAIII plus Elbow and/or Patella clearances and at least one AKC Registered

Members will submit a Database printout of their dogs records via email to the Awards Chairperson. To receive the title at least one of the Breeders, owners or co-owners the dog or bitch must be a member of SCWTCA.

Owner/Co-Owner must submit Database Report to the Awards Chair in the form below no later than September 1st.  The Database Administrative Team reviews submissions to ensure compliance. The Database may contact the owner if they have questions on a submission. The final list of approvals is sent to the Database Team by September 1st for titles to be updated.

*If a dog is still an active part of a breeding program the eye clearances must be in compliance with the COE at the time of the award.

HAII: Breeding Stock - Meets SCWTCA Required Health Testing. The dog's record in the Database includes the elements for HA I plus a photo, hip certification and current CAER eye clearances. If a dog is still an active part of a breeding program the eye clearances must be in compliance with the COE at the time of the award. HAIII: Breeding Sock - Meets SCWTCA Required and Recommended Health Testing. The dog's record in the Database includes the elements for HA II plus DM, MO, PxD and at least one AKC registered litter of puppies. HAIV: Breeding Stock: Meets SCWTCA Required and Recommended Health Testing and has completed Optional Screening. The dog's record in the Database includes the elements for HAIII plus plus elbow or patellar clearances.
